How to get to the Duomo

The Duomo complex rises in the heart of Florence's historic center, on Piazza del Duomo, with the Cathedral's distinctive dome visible from across the city. Its central location makes it easily accessible on foot from most landmarks, and the area is served by local buses and taxis. Streets around the square are largely pedestrianized, allowing visitors to move between the monuments safely and enjoy the surrounding Renaissance architecture at a leisurely pace.

The lines that will get you closest to the Duomo are C2, C3, C4 and 14, with the nearest stop being Roma Duomo and Santa Maria Maggiore. The Duomo is also within walking distance of the station (about 900m).

By foot

Visiting the city center of Florence by foot is very convenient, as most monuments are in close proximity and walking between them will allow you to get the most out of your time in Florence, experiencing the city to its fullets.

By car

Cars aren't allowed in the city center, so the most convenient way if you're planning on driving to the Duomo is to find a car park just outside the restricted area and walk from there.
